The stories of Kawelo’s childhood take place in the Wailua and Nukolii district, once the royal lands of the Kawelo dynasty, where Kauai Beach Resort sits today. Kawelo grew up flying kites, playing hide-and-seek, and summoning up magic. The same spirit of wonder is still alive and well today. We invite guests to participate in Hawaiian games and discover the legends that took place right under our feet.
Aletha Thomas, a former schoolteacher, was on a mission. Each Friday, she would pull out her French copper pot and preserve the weekly fruit harvest into jams and jellies, just as her grandmothers did before her. The fruits of her labor become well known around town, and before long Monkeypod Jam was born.
Guests of Kauai Beach Resort receive $5 off tastings at Monkeypod Jam.
